July 4th 2012

This is the only thing we did to celebrate this year... wear colors to show our USA pride! Next year Slade will be 1 and our families will be in town haha Happy Independence Day!

Mother's Day

This was a fun mother's day! At this point I wasn't officially a mother yet but I still got to receive some goodies this year. We spent time with both of our mom's and that's so great since they live minutes away from each other. We spent the afternoon with my mom and the evening with my mom-in-law. I got some way cute earrings from my sister and my husband got me a camera bag that I wanted sooooo bad!!! I have 3 lenses and a new camera and my old yucky SONY bag just did not cut it. I got a Jo Totes Rose Bag and it's to die for!!! Just perfect for all my gear and taking out during shoots. Sometimes if I don't need my normal purse, I just stick my wallet into this new camera bag and boom, I am set. Happy Mother's Day!

Easter 2012

Happy late Easter! Just sharing a few pictures of this day spent with my family. We had a yummy BBQ, my little cousins did their egg hunt and we just spent time enjoying the breeze outside. It was so beautiful today! This day made me think a lot about next Easter. I loved this Easter of course but next year we will have a NINE MONTH OLD! Maybe he'll be old enough to play with the eggs, we'll actually color some eggs that time around, we'll go to egg hunts (even if it means me helping him haha) and we just get to be more involved in the holiday. I'm so excited to spend time making memories with our new little boy! Cannot wait!

Happy Valentine's Day!

I knew today was going to be busy and it really was! We started off the day early and I made a surprise yummy breakfast for Blaine. I made omelets with hashbrowns and it was so delish! So yummy. It was great way to begin Valentine's Day. I went to work and came home and Blaine was way excited to share presents! I didn't even know that my present had made it on time and he had picked up his own present today so it was perfect. Good thing I had picked out a great card a while ago and so I had mine ready. He greeted me home with flowers and a present! I got my Bamboo Craft design tablet that I get to use with Adobe Illustrator and I am so excited about it! It helps me take my designs to the next level. From "me" he got the hutch for his desk. It's tradition to read our cards out loud and hug and kiss and I just love that. Our thing is to get funny/sexy/romantic cards for each holiday and he did so great this year! It's electronic and has sounds! Seriously, there's this heart and it lights up and flashes lights and plays a siren sound! Then when you open it, it whistles at you! haha LOVE IT! Well remember how I said today was going to be busy? Well we barely had time to celebrate when Blaine had to hurry and go study and I had to drop something off for church. I was going to grill steaks but it seemed like too much on such a busy night and so I just picked up pizza and we ate in front of our computers....not really romantic but Blaine had to study hardcore and I played with my new present. Valentine's Dinner was later in the week. I sure do love my husband though and am so grateful for all that we have together. The sweetest thing about our cards to each other is that both of us wrote down something about our growing family. I talked about loving him and our little boy and he said I was going to be the perfect mom for our growing family....talk about cute!!!! Love my husband :)

For dinner we ate at the Aliante restaurant called Market Place and we had steak of course and it was soooo delish. Such a nice restaurant it reminds me of Lawry's Prime Rib (atmosphere and pricing haha). Definitely will go there again!

Day of the Kings: Rosca

We celebrated Rosca with my family, mom and sis, Joni and the little kids. I got a baby! Haha so did Blaine and Lydia. I put extra ones. Joni made a Rosca too! It was a giant cinnamon roll! Fabulous. Joni had treated me to Cafe Rio earlier in the day and we chatted about having Rosca and she really did make one haha awesome. I had so much delicious hot chocolate that I threw everything up (sorry....TMI...but it's the pregnancy....happens all the time!)....including my delish pizza for dinner....what gives! Oh well, guess those calories didn't count!

Christmas 2011

Christmas this year was so fun! We spent Christmas Eve at Blaine's parents house but my family joined us for dinner and the festivities there so it was great. We had yummy food, sang songs, did the nativity and just had fun. Later at night we went over to my aunt's house and spent time with relatives on my side of the family. Then we made it home around midnight so since it's tradition to open presents at midnight at my parents' house, Blaine and I opened our presents! Every year we have a Christmas budget but this year (and every year actually) we cheat a little but Blaine cheated big time! I got a Magic Trackpad for my iMac and then in my stocking I had perfume and makeup. Perfection :) Christmas morning we had breakfast at the Davis', were supposed to go to Church at my mom's ward but then my bro on a mission called early and so we missed Church to talk to him of course haha We had dinner at my mom's and stopped by the Davis' again at night time. So nice that they live within a mile of each other haha hope everyone had a Merry Christmas! 

Mexico - Trip 2 - Thanksgiving

Another trip down to Mexico! We are just in Tijuana, south of San Diego so it takes about the same time it takes to get to Provo, UT and so we're all used to that long drive. We spent Thanksgiving there and it was so fun because we invited a lot of relatives that had never celebrated Thanksgiving before (it's not a Mexican holiday) and so it was fun to see people experiencing something new! It was a huge party with 20+ people and we had met a retired American couple who didn't speak spanish but they had nothing to do for Thanksgiving and it was so great to share the holiday with them. This was one of the best Thanksgivings ever because we make it a tradition to go around the table and say what we are thankful for and some of my relative had never celebrated Thanksgiving therefore had never done that, the retired couple barely knew anyone there and I announced I was pregnant and so you could just feel the spirit so much because of what everyone was thankful for. Great trip!

Labor Day Weekend - Birthday

We headed out to Brianhead for the holiday weekend and it was fun as always! We specifically had a task in mind....boys cut wood and girls deep clean the cabin (hence the gloves....haha) We made it spotless! It was hard work but we work hard and play hard when it comes to the cabin so we have to take care of it. We went shooting and watched movies and also got to relax. It was also my birthday around that time haha So we celebrated on Sept 1st with my family and we celebrated with the Davis' later that weekend. Yay for cake and presents!

Oh Easter....what a fun time! First and foremost, Easter is a wonderful time to think about Christ and that He lives. Our Church program was so amazing and it just feels like just a happy and uplifting holiday. All the kids in Church today looked so cute not only in their Sunday Best but I could tell there was something special in their dressing just for Easter. The Easter Bunny came to our house too and it is so fun to start fun traditions with my husband. We spent most of the day over at my parents' house for a BBQ with relatives and it was just relaxing and fun. Later at night we had FHE with Blaine's family. It is always so great to be with the ones we love! They are the best. I hope everyone's Easter was amazing :)

Every February He'll Be My Valentine...

This was such a wonderful Valentine's Day! It all started Saturday night too. One thing I guess is a lesson in life is that things don't always go the way we planned them (my friend Michelle Clark knows what I'm talking about :) ) That's part of the adventure right? Well we had planned on celebrating on Saturday due to the hecticness of school and work on Monday and we wanted to go to the Temple, go to Olive Garden (yay for gift cards) and exchange presents. Well first off, we missed the Temple because they close early on Saturdays and since our laptop kept killing the internet, Blaine was bombed with homework and studying for a test. So the Temple was out so go to dinner right? We called ahead and at 5 pm (early dinner) Olive Garden was already booked and we were starving so waiting an hour plus plus driving to the nearest location was out of the question. We live next to the Aliante Station and a steakhouse there....perfect right? Well we get there to be told that they will not accept any new customers until 10pm!!!! (it was only 6pm...) Crazy right? Well last resort and totally yummy anyways was TGIFridays inside the Aliante. Burger, Steak, Potato Skins, Nachos.....yes please. And oh, we swapped gifts before dinner and what I "wished for" was to get our carpets cleaned (silly I know but I wanted them so bad) and so we will be cleaning those soon but Blaine still got me beautiful flowers (tulips are my fave) and some great kitchen goodies. I gave him some much needed and "wish list" items of office supplies haha and we exchanged our valentine cards to each other. We made it a tradition of giving each other "humorous" cards for every holiday we can think of. So fun! Flash forward to Monday where I got boxes of chocolates frm Mr. & Mrs. Escobar (yum!) and for dinner I made Blaine some of his favorite foods such as Buttermilk Fried Chicken, Greenbean Casserole, Mashed Potatoes, and Easy Cherry Cheesecake....oh and salad of course to stay healthy :) Yeah right! We ate so much but it was awesome. Then we let ourselves go to bed really early....such a beautiful thing :)

Rosca de Reyes 2011

Rosca is an annual tradition that I do with my family every year and this year I got to share it with my in-laws and it was so fun! Rosca de Reyes (Rosca of Kings) is celebrated on January 6th and that is the day that is traditionally known to be the day that the three wise men found Baby Jesus and they give gifts to him. As part of this holiday, we get gifts again :) but we also talk about the gifts that we can give to Christ today such as our love, respect, obedience, and humility. We also have a party :) My My mom came over early to make the hot chocolate and Blaine and I got the house ready. Slowly people finally made it and we had hot chocolate with the Rosca bread. Inside the sweet bread is a baby Jesus. There is a baby Jesus inside because it represents Jesus hiding from King Herod who was trying to find him and kill him. The circle represents a never ending search for Christ (a good one for people to search Christ always). Here the tradition is that you cut your piece (the knife represents danger) and whoever finds the baby Jesus gets to throw a party on February 2nd (a positive ending for finding Christ). If a lot of people find a figurine, they share the expenses and plan the party together. My aunt, cousin, mom-in-law, sis-in-law, my mom and my dad I think all got a baby Jesus. It was so fun to spend this Christlike holiday with all my family on both sides. The only ones not able to make it were my father-in-law and my Aunt Veronica and her family. We talked about Christ and the gifts that we can give to him.

Hmmmm. One WEEK

First off, I just saw this cornucopia....made out of bread! I think I could make this :) lol

Secondly, I am so excited to eat food that I haven't had in a long time! Turkey, stuffing, pumpking pie, apple pie, holiday fruit salad perhaps? Then all my favorite foods are always at Thanksgiving, like rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy, ham, veggies. I mean, what is not to love about Thanksgiving? This year we get to celebrate twice! In the morning I will be baking and cooking and for lunch timeish we will have Thanksgiving at Blaine's grandparents' and then later for dinner we will have Thanksgiving at my parents. It will be so much fun! We're supposed to eat a LITTLE for lunch but I think we will just eat A LOT during the entire day. Then at my moms we always have left-overs the next day, I think we will have to stop by again :) Also, we might go to Brianhead....who knows about how much snow there is though. We will have to wait and see! I'm excited because Thanksgiving means school is almost over for Blaine, and when school is over that means Christmas is near, and when Christmas is near, the year is almost over and I LOVE the feeling of a New Year. That's why Fall is awesome :)

Halloween Trick-or-Treating

I read this CNN article that talked about this year's debate on trick or treating on Sunday. It sparked my interest because Sunday is a very special day for me. I do not have kids so I don't have to deal with this issue but what do you think? Is trick-or-treating on Sunday not a good Sabbath day activity or is it a nice way to visit neighbors? I have no opinion on this yet but both LDS and non LDS people have thought different things. Last year, my brother-in-law got baptized on a Saturday and it happened to be Halloween. I remember one mom opted to wait another month for her child to be baptized because she thought Halloween was evil. I do not feel that way at all. If anything, I enjoyed pumpkin stew at the baptism luncheon. But dressing up and going out late at night to get candy? Not sure yet. Our ward's trunk-or-treat is Friday so If I had kids, they would definitely hang out there. Sunday is also a school night. What are your thoughts?

Oh the month of May and June!

I have no idea how I got behind so fast. Let me begin with saying that the reason I went private is because just randomly, I thought, "I've googled Priscilla De La Vega before, I wonder what it will do when I google Priscilla Davis". So I DID and ALL my blog pictures were on like 8 pages of google images and in the main search page, the first picture that comes up is my wedding picture....creepy kinda. If those pictures were of just Blaine and I, it could be fine but I post pictures of friends and family too so I don't want to have those pictures floating around everywhere. Now that it is private, basically all the pictures are gone.


So there you go, the second I cound out all this creepy stuff, I shut down my blog and since I have no time, it took forever to make it private, round up e-mails for invites to the blog, and had to fix settings and such. Such a mess but I hope that I can be even better at blogging now (especially since I learned some people actually read this!!! haha)


June went by way to fast and as I do stuff in July, I still want to put June on everything at work. I barely remember. Here are a few pictures and tidbits about our past few months :)

Elder De La Vega - My younger brother has been in Canada, Montreal mission in the town of Hawksberry and now that it is june, he has like a little more than 20 months to go! After waiting for my husband, I think I am more patient haha I think these next 20 months will go by fast.

Michelle - My little sister had her Sweet Sixteen! She didn't want anything big so we just had a family get together and I think she did something separate with her friends but we had pizza, Nothing Budnt Cake, and ice cream. We opened a ton of presents and just hung out! I can't believe that now she can date, she can get her driver's license soon, and going to be a junior in high school. The baby in the family is soon enough going to graduate and be not little anymore! Crazy.

Blaine - UNLV Summer Term: Blaine had a little break for May and it was awesome having no homework to worry about after dinner but in June Blaine did have school, fulltime/overtime work and I think I saw him like 1 hour a day! Literally, he works some insanely early jobs so one Sunday he went to bed at like 7 pm, wake up at 11pm work like 15+ hours, come home for a quick dinner, go to school by 6pm, and be back home by 10pm to just wake up in a couple hours to go to work again! There is a hilarious UNLV radio ad that says, "I'm in LOVE! I'm not in love, GO REBELS!" haha and it crack me up all the time, well what do I have to say about summer term? "I'm not in love" lol I am glad that the term is over and I have my husband back until fall semester :) Even then, it's not as crazy!

Work - One of the reasons I have no time or life is because I work full time at Escobar & Associates. I am a legal assistant and do a variety of legal documents, billing, scheduling, conferences...etc. Fun but tiring lol I LOVE my weekends and appreciate having a job so much!

House projects - Blaine and I have painted, worked on the garage, added design elements to certain areas of the house and just try to work on our home whenever we get a chance! Painting is SO much fun but such a mess, chore, and crazy. We are all excited when we start and once we are trying to finish, we CANNOT wait to be over. haha We are not perfect, it is cheap labor haha but it is good enough. More projects to come!

Lexy "Linx" Davis - Well we became parents! We adopted Lexy (I sometimes call her Lexykins) for Mother's day and got her from an animal shelter. We had SUCH a hard time picking out the perfect cat and we needed to specifically find a nonnewborn cat, one that was pretty, a girl, and a cat that loves to cuddle! The first month was rough because she was scared and she would hide under our couch and we never saw her. Once she became comfortable though, she's the sweetest thing! She's obsessed with us petting her, she steals my pillow at night, she cuddles on our lap while playing on the computer, watching movies, and even when Blaine is trying to do homework. She has the cutest sounds and chirps and seems to be "talking" to us all the time. She makes a mess when she eats and she likes to chase bugs, play with bobbi pins, hair ties, and as Blaine would like to say, fly off the 2nd story of our house! That's right, she likes to play and nap in our loft and when she gets on the railing, I get terrified that she will fall off. Well one day Blaine actually saw her miss the wall and fly towards the ground and even though she did land on her feet, the tile made her legs slide and basically belly flopped on the ground, she was scared but not scared enough to keep napping on that wall. Silly kitty, we love her.

Carrie Underwood/Girls Saturday - One of my best friends Whitney came to town specifically for Carrie Underwood that we bought tickets for like 5 months before she came! It took forever to get here and finally the day was here and it was so fun! Whitney and I have seen Carrie 3 times together haha and I think we will continue this tradition for as long as we can (that is why she isn't allowed to move out east, Utah is already far enough). I started my day seeing Letters from Juliet with my mom and my friend Ashley and it was so cute! Whit couldn't make it but we did get together for lunch at Cafe Rio and then we had a fun shopping time going to buy shoes, getting random stuff at Target, going to the Fashion Show Mall and eating a quick bite at Johnny's Rockets. We made it to the concert in perfect time and our seats were not that bad! Overall though, Carrie is amazing, I wish I could be her, sing like her, look as pretty as her, and well she rode on a truck that was like a magic carpet flying across the stadium....yeah she's that great :)

Mother's Day - We got to spend the morning with my mom-in-law in the morning as we went to church and Spencer spoke on mothers. We had a yummy brunch/dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Davis and we gave her our present before we left and had a bbq dinner at my mom's. It was so fun to open presents with my mom because we did really good this year! haha she got all this fun stuff and loved it :) I gotta say, those cute, red, Rubbermaid containers are the best and look so cute. Davis Family Pictures - With Blaine's family, we took some family pictures as well now that Blaine is back, I joined the Davis family, and before Spencer leaves for his mission. We took the pictures with the bus that Jeff bought for the scouts and it was so fun! Totally different and the photographers were great. Blaine and I had a lot of pictures done that month haha

Stacie Hawley Photography - Ha! So Blaine's beautiful cousin Stacie Hawley just started up her photography business and she is so good! I love her work and I'm so happy to call her family. So she had this promotion for her business called "Fresh Faces and Places" and so she offered a free photoshoot to the first 5 people to shoot her an email and I won! It was so neat haha. Our faces are not really fresh because she knows us but we got to be her little models for the evening. We went down to the art district downtown and it was so fun! We also went to this railroad that was just awesome. We have so many cute pics but these are the ones she has posted on her blog. Looks great doesn't it!  And like I said, this is the 2nd photoshoot out of three haha

Last tid bit: Blaine and I have our 11th month anniversary today, one more month til the year! Fastest and best year of my life :)

April so far....

So I think April has just flown by! I barely could remember what our family of two did! We have had a lot of fun though and I need to remember to take more pictures! I don't take credit for ANY of these. But here is our April so far!

Some of our greatest friends got married! I have know Kim and Kyle for like forever and even though we weren't at the Temple, we did go to their reception and it was a beautiful night! Now we have another married couple to hang out with and it's awesome :) Congrats to the Milletts!

We recently discovered this restaurant. Don't let the "Saloon" part fool you. There is "Texas" everything on their menu so you have these great southwestern dishes and it was so yummy! Not too pricey either. Yeah they have a bar but so does Applebees and BJs ya know? Also, the interior design is to die for! If you like cowboy stuff, this is the place to go!

Blaine's cousin Matt Davis blessed his baby girl Karli Irene Davis and it was such a beautiful moment! It really tugged our hearts to see this sweetheart of a 2nd cousin be so cute with her parents. We love Matt and Jen! Congrats to the both of them. Baby Davis will have such a great cousin to play with one day!

I was sick last weekend...I think Thursday til Sunday the only thing I did was go to Church and buy groceries so I wouldn't starve although for the first few days I couldn't keep anything down. Yuck, I was most likely food poisoning! I am glad I am better because I hate being sick and I did NOTHING for an entire weekend.

While I was sick, Blaine studied endlessly for school and I am so proud of him! He's a great "REBEL" and such a hard worker both at school and at work. He's got to juggle a lot of things but he does it so well!

Our Weekend : Conference, Easter!

I was an absolute cleaning machine on Saturday morning and I didn't even go back to bed at 5:30am when Blaine left for work! I cleaned the kitchen while I watched some TV on the laptop haha but I did great! I seriously cleaned for like 3 hours straight and it was great deep cleaning. Just looked so great! It is so much easier to keep up once you start super clean. I seriously got a workout because I was sweating like crazy when Blaine came home just in time for Conference. All the talks were so great! In between sessions we took a much needed nap and it felt so great. After, we went to his parents house for conference and saw it there with family. After, the girls went to the bead store for some goodies ( I got a cute bracelet and watch made for me!) and Blaine and other kids went to Home Depot. The boys later went to the Priesthood session and Joni and I went grocery shopping at Sam's. It was good bonding time! We watched The Other Side of Heaven, one of my favorites, ate pizza and helped Joni with dinner. Then it was time to go home with my honey! Great start to conference weekend :)

Sunday was such a great day! Blaine and I had struggles making breakfast like almost burning bacon and aebleskivers and Blaine messed up a couple times making the batter haha BUT we made it and our omelets with the aebleskivers were amazing! We saw One Tree Hill a little througout the day and we were ready for General Conference part 3 & 4. We saw all of it at home and it was nice to cuddle, have fun with each other and learn a lot. Then we made it over to Easter dinner which was a buffet and there was so much good food! I love it so much wow :) Whipping cream potatoes and green beans were my favorite so I got seconds! Almost the entire Noorda clan was over there and it was Grandpa Noorda's birthday on Monday so we celebrated there. My family was there too and it was neat to share this wonderful holiday with both our families. We saw all the kiddies play, hung out with my parents and left to our home to be together. I love Easter and what it represents and spending time with family. I am so grateful for Christ and that He lives.

Valentine's Day 2010

Blaine and I had a very silly and random Valentine's Day celebration. Make that a couple....haha So for Valentine's Day, we had planned on going to the cabin to snowboard for like 3 days and lounge around for Sunday. We were so excited to go and we were excited to see our presents for each other. Since we were going to Brianhead on Friday, we decided to exchange our presents (which one of them was too big to go to Brianhead) on Thursday night just kind of randomly. I got him these over head lights with cool diamond plated borders. It's the PERFECT lighting system for his garage which he loves! Then Blaine got me an awesome zoom lens for my digital SLR camera! It's perfect for just fun pictures outside, sports games, and more outdoor types of picture taking. I'm nowhere even claiming I'm a "photographer" but I do love photography and it's more about the journaling and capturing moments that I love. Anyways, so were were so excited to open our presents that we forgot our Valentine cards. I love Valentine cards because even in pre-school you give and receive Valentine cards, no present needed. We both bought our cards but I didn't write in mine yet and his was at his work. But since our unexpected gift giving happened so quickly, no need to worry. Then we didn't even end up going to Brianhead! Long story short, UNLV sucks, so do teachers and Blaine had a mountain of projects and tests to study for. So we had the most delicious yummy dinner on Sunday, Valentine's Day :) Blaine wanted his three favorite things: Steak, Chicken, and Potatoes. So we cooked together and it was delicious and healthy although we probably ate a lot and we made chocolate chip cookies because they are his favorite and I even made two HUGE hearts out of the dough and it turned out so perfect! We even had sparkling cider and fancy glasses. Perfect Valentine's Day....to this day, we still have not exchanged our Valentine cards....I need to remember to write in it and I need to remind him to bring my card home :) I love him!!!

Rosca 2010

One family tradition from Mexico that we follow is called a "ROSCA". I don't know exactly what it means but on January 6th, that's supposedly the day when the 3 wise men came to see baby Jesus and give him gifts. So on the 5th, little kids put shoes out for the wise men to bring presents and on the 6th there are presents by the shoes! So little kids do that and Blaine and I plan on doing that for our children. So then for dessert, we have this mexican bread where there are little baby Jesus figures inside the bread. There's always a couple figures inside but the one that is pink is the special one! Whoever gets the pink figure throws a party on February 2nd of the same year. My mom makes this delicious mexican hot chocolate and it's all hot and frothy. I got the pink figure and so it's a party at the Davis'!!!
