Provo Bridal Shower

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Ah! So Blaine proposed and so fast my friends came up with a great way to celebrate with me! We kinda wanted to have a "going away/graduation" party anyways haha so now it was my Provo Bridal Shower slash Bachelorette Party! Dani Richards and Crystal McCown organized it and Whitney Erickson, Emily Erickson, Danielle Crane, Holly Clark, Jessica Viehweg, Alisha Davis, DeAnne Wood all came! My best friends in Provo :) gotta love them! We went to Chili's and I got a Miss Bachelorette sash and we all got beads and it was hilarious eating dinner. Then we went back to Dani's and we had presents! Way fun and funny stuff haha Way cute stuff too! I just had way to much fun. We had ice cream sundaes and listened to fun music. It was definitely a night to remember!

BYU Graduation and Moving

Sunday, April 26, 2009

I graduated from Brigham Young University!! Kind of!! haha I did my commencement ceremony in April 2009 for my BA degree in Communications. I have to do an internship in Las Vegas and then they'll mail my degree in the mail :) The commencement was great! Apostles spoke and the spirit was so strong. I LOVE MY SCHOOL! I am so excited to be done! No more classes, no more slipping on the snow, no more crazyness. I will greatly miss my friends though and my job at the LDS Philanthropies building as a BYU Telefund Supervisor. I packed and my families (De La Vega & Davis) helped me move all my stuff! We ate at the Macaroni Grill, at BrickOven and Blaine and I went to Panda on my last day. I will miss Provo and remember it forever!!!

THE PROPOSAL

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

On April 18th 2009, I had planned to go take a final exam at BYU and after, I was going to get lunch and see "17 Again" with Alisha. I got up and ready for my 11 a.m. test and I was supposed to call Alisha when I was done. I took the horrendous test and then walked outside. When I got home or on my way there, I called Alisha, let her know I was done, and she said she'll be there in 5 minutes. I hurry and get ready & then I hear a knock on the door, I imagined black, curly, long hair on 5'2'' Alisha and when I opened the door, I saw a 6' something, short curly blonde haired BOY!!! It was Blaine! He was standing there with a bouquet of pink roses and I must admit one of my 1st reactions was to look at the flowers and see if there was a diamond ring inside. I thought about the moment.. "Is this it?!?" nope! Not yet! There was no ring in the flowers but I was soooo shocked to see Blaine! It was Saturday and he was coming on Wednesday for my BYU graduation so I totally didn't expect to see him this weekend! So he came to see me and he took me on a little walk/hike to Bridal Veil Falls.

The name of the place was making me think that maybe he would propose there so I was anxious! We walked to the waterfall and on our way there we made little stops to look at nature or the river so every now and then I though, "Is this it?!?" haha then one time it was hilarious because every time Blaine comes to visit me, he forgets stuff: his tie, his shoes, etc...and he told me he forgot something again. Previously, he had been teasing me for the past couple days about an engagement ring so I kinda played around too and was making fun of him for forgetting stuff and when he said, "Guess what I forgot?" and the only thing that I said was, "the RING?!?" hahahaha he said NO and we were cracking up! I knew it was coming but I had no idea when or where. It was way romantic taking that walk and we saw this older couple kissing on a bridge and it was great to think where we would be in the future. So then we made our way out and went to Cafe Rio for lunch! Best place ever :)

Blaine then dropped me off at my place and told me to dress nice for dinner. That got me excited and I got ready and fresh for the night. I put on a red dress and I couldn't wait to go out. So he picked me up, we visited his sister (who never really was going to get lunch & a movie with me) and we were on our way. Then I realized we were going to Salt Lake City! We went to The Roof Restaurant inside the Joseph Smith building. We have never been there and it was such a nice and fancy restaurant. It was great because a ton of kids were there for their prom and looking at all those pretty dresses reminded me of our prom and all of our high school dances. So where we got seated was the most beautiful and best spot in the entire restaurant! We were tucked in a little corner for a table for two and we had full length windows looking out to the Temple. We saw the temple before sunset, sunset, and at night where they lit up the temple. It was so beautiful! Dinner and dessert was great and everything was so romantic that I was wondering, "is this it!??!" haha but not yet!!

Then as we went down the elevator I was hoping we didn't go back to the parking garage because I hoped we would walk around Temple Square. Luckily we did go outside and walked around. We stopped briefly by a fountain and I thought, "Is this it?!" but nope! We kept walking and when we left the actual Temple grounds I got scared for a little bit because we couldn't get back inside but then we found a different entrance and we found the beautiful reflection pond. Then for the last time that night I thought, "THIS is it!!!" So we walked in and we sat down on the bench part of the pond and before Blaine even said anything, I not only got teary eyed but couldn't stop crying!

I regained my composure, and then he got down on one knee (after he waited for people to leave and stop taking pictures) and he said a bunch of cute stuff and he asked me to marry him! I could barely say yes (hmmm hmmm....!) because I was crying again and then he was getting teary eyed too so it was such a great moment! Hugs and kisses and then a random guy took a picture of us.

BEST NIGHT EVER

General Conference Weekend

Tuesday, April 7, 2009

It was so great to have Blaine come to Provo to spend General Conference weekend with me! I love that. He got to Provo on Saturday morning and I made him a great and yummy breakfast with eggs, bacon, pancakes, and strawberries with whipped cream. SO good! We watched conference in my apartment and cuddled as we listened to the wonderful talks given by general authories and leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Then we visited Alisha and hung out with her! We just chatted and enjoyed each other's company. Then off we were to watch conference again. For dinner, I had told Blaine about a placed called Tucano's Brazilian Grill where you can eat like a dinosaur because they bring you out amazing selections of meat and so we went there and yes it was a carnivorous feast! We topped off dinner with some cheesecake and we were stuffed until Sunday! Later we went and saw Fast & the Furious (2009) and it was way cool! I love the cars, the action was sweet and Blaine and I really liked it. We tried to get a razor for Blaine at Wal-Mart around 12:30am and there was a HUGE line! It wasn't worth it so we went home haha.

Sunday we had tickets to go see General Conference in the Conference Center on Temple Square and so we went to Salt Lake City to pick up our tickets, we drove to our parking lot and went as fast as we could 5 blocks to the center. We didn't make it really!!! The actual live Conference was all full so we went to an overflow area where we saw conference on a big screen. Ooops! Next time we know how to get there and that we need to get there at a certain time haha We also met up with one of Blaine's mission buddies and hung out for a little while. Then back to Provo we went and had french bread pizzas loaded up with cheese and pepperoni and it was soooooooo good! We saw the last session and then it was time for Blaine to go all the way back to Vegas. I don't like saying goodbye anymore! I want to go home :) But it was so amazing to have him here and we had an awesome weekend.
