My little younger brother gave a wonderful homecoming talk last Sunday. He spoke about faith building experiences and about his mission in Montreal Canada. He has great stories and such a great testimony about the work that he was doing over there. My little sister spoke too! She spoke about the power of the priesthood and how much she appreciates it. It was a spirit filled day and we ended the day with a BBQ in Edward's honor! We had 80+ people come! It was so crazy and fun! Below the boys made hamburgers upon hamburgers. The entire ward brought food and desserts and goodies. We chatted and laughed and Edward got to spend time with those who love him the most. Such a fun Sunday! I took a ton of pictures for my brother but here are just a few :)

Elder De La Vega is Home!
Thursday, March 29, 2012
I can't believe my little brother came home already after two years of serving in the Canada Montreal Mission speaking Spanish and French. He was called to serve in both languages but he already knew Spanish fluently from home so he learned French while he was at the MTC.
His flight was scheduled to arrive around 5:15 on Thursday March 29 and so we barely made it on time at the airport at like 5:05. I was so worried that he would get there early! Thankfully, we didn't miss him. It actually turns out that he took forever to come down the elevators instead! We were there with so many family and friends. We had a huge banner waiting for him and we were all so excited! There were people from the ward, our family, the Davis' and people who loved him. We kept thinking "what is going on?" When it was 6 p.m. and he still had not showed up! We kept looking at all the different escalators, we asked airport security, we asked if he was actually on his flight, we spoke to others coming from Detroit (the flight he came on) and we just couldn't find him!
Turns out that he got out of the plane, had to use the restroom, chatted with a sister missionary, made a phone call to his mission president, etc and so he took a little time up there haha. Then finally, he and the sister missionary that randomly happened to be on his flight too, came down the escalators! It was such a great moment and I have it all on video :) We had my dad on the phone and on Skype looking at everything and chatting with everyone. It was great to see my brother come home! Now he is no longer Elder De La Vega but Edward or Eddy.
When he got released, our Stake President had amazing words to say and my brother gave one of the strongest testimonies I've ever heard. I'm so proud of my brother and all the good that he did. He's a little nervous to be home and make new life decisions like work and school and such but I know with Heavenly Father's help he can continue making the right choices. We ended the night at Outback and there goes our night! Welcome home little brother!!!
Learning about patience
Tuesday, March 1, 2011
Take a look at this wonderful message about patience and the blessings we receive from being patient. Recently I felt tired and stressed and only after hearing President Uchtdorf talk about patience did I receive a comforting feeling and a greater increase of patience. That is all we can do when everything is so chaotic in our lives, be patient.
