Kim's Baby Shower

Wednesday, August 15, 2012

ONE last baby shower! Now it was Kim's turn to have her shower and look who made a debut! Slade was out to see all the girls! It was so great to be with my friends and celebrate with Kim! Her sister threw such a great shower at her mom's house on a Saturday morning. By now both Michelle AND Kim have had their babies! Can't believe we are all moms now! It was so great to celebrate with these girls and now we just need to meet Adley!

Happy Birthday Mama!

Happy 49th 29th birthday to my mom! Haha My mom is so amazing and it was so great to celebrate her birthday! Slade was already born at this point and so Blaine babysat him for the first time all by himself! haha He's such a great dad. This was the first time I left Slade and I was a little anxious! We went to my mom's fave....(and mine...) Olive Garden! Delish. Then home for cake and ice cream....such a fun girls night out! Great day to spend with my mom!

Congrats Grad of 2012!

Look at my sister go! She spoke at her graduation, graduated in the top of her class, she has been so awesome the last four years! I gave birth before her graduation and so I was hope with the baby during the ceremony. Too much loudness and little people haha But my wonderful husband was there to support her on behalf of the mini Davis family and was the photographer for the day! (Thanks honey!) It was so great to have all three of my mom's kids graduate high school! Later in the day Slade and I did join the family to go to the Cheesecake Factory and then have dessert at my mom's house. Congrats kiddo! You did it!!!! (in the Elle Woods from Legally Blonde voice haha)

Pink Party in Celebration of...

Joni! My mother-in-law has been breast cancer free for 10 years! Her daughters wanted to throw her a party to celebrate this anniversary and Alisha was the master mind behind it all. EVERYTHING pink! Food, decor, scrapbook, photobooth, clothes. It was a surprise party and she had NO idea! All the ladies that came were so great and brought such great food. We wrote notes of love, took fun pictures and just enjoyed everyone's company. So great to celebrate such a wonderful woman in my life :)

Awards Nite for my Sis!

My little sis had her senior awards night and she of course is amazing :) I can't believe she is all grown up now! She has a great set of friends and teachers and I know she loved her high school experience. We are so proud of her and all her accomplishments. You go Michelle!

Brittani's Baby Shower

Another Britt having a baby! Brittani and I are only like 2 days apart! By now we've had our baby boys and I had mine a few weeks early so they are more apart than previously expected haha. Brittani and I were in YW together in our family ward before marriage and now babies :) Cute decor and delish food as always! It was a short visit because there were 2 MORE parties we went to later today but it was great to see her! Congrats to Britt!

Brittany's Baby Shower

Wow this shower was FOREVER ago! But this shower goes to show how many babies are all over the place! I love the pictures of all 4 of us pregnant at the same time and in order of who is due first! Brittany had the cutest baby girl Hadley and she's the best dressed girl ever! Congrats to Britt! This shower was way cute on a weekday night and had such yummy food. Thrown by her mom Kris and she made the BEST decorations ever!

Michelle's Baby Shower!

One of my best friends is just a month apart from me and now it was her turn for her baby shower! I love this girl so much and since I am so late posting this, she already had her baby Colt! Our boys are going to be best friends! This shower was so cute! Cowboy themed thrown by her sister-in-law and it turned out so great! So great to celebrate our babies with Michelle!

Baby Shower #2

Baby Shower with my Waterfall Ward friends! I love all these girls so much! From the YW i used to teach to the moms in the ward with 5 kids, they are all so wonderful. The YW taught me how to be a leader, example, role model and future mom. The moms in my life are all so great and even though I am really young, they include me, support me, hang out with me, and love me! I have some great relationships in this ward and I cannot thank them enough for putting together this great shower! This shower took place at my friend Erin's at night time and it was a great mom's night out for the gals! It truly is a party whenever Waterfall Ward ladies get together.  My mom and mother-in-law got to meet many of my friends and that was great! Thanks everyone for a great night!

This little mini trip to Brianhead and Cedar City was so fun! We wanted a little getaway before the baby came and I am so glad we took this trip :) We just had a 3 day weekend full of being outside, the Avengers, steakhouse, another steakhouse, roadtrip, hanging out at the cabin, pictures and just enjoying ourselves. These pictures are the closest thing I have to a maternity shoot since Slade came a tad early! I think I was like 34-36 weeks along. Thankfully, Blaine keeps learning how to use my camera so I got some great pics! I will always love spending time with Blaine and I know I will look forward to more trips just the two of us as Slade keeps growing!

Mother's Day

This was a fun mother's day! At this point I wasn't officially a mother yet but I still got to receive some goodies this year. We spent time with both of our mom's and that's so great since they live minutes away from each other. We spent the afternoon with my mom and the evening with my mom-in-law. I got some way cute earrings from my sister and my husband got me a camera bag that I wanted sooooo bad!!! I have 3 lenses and a new camera and my old yucky SONY bag just did not cut it. I got a Jo Totes Rose Bag and it's to die for!!! Just perfect for all my gear and taking out during shoots. Sometimes if I don't need my normal purse, I just stick my wallet into this new camera bag and boom, I am set. Happy Mother's Day!

and oh, I love this picture of my mom and I...LOVE HER!

Baby Shower #1

Monday, August 13, 2012

Well the baby is here as you all know but I need to catch up on blogging! Slade is sleeping right now and I need to capture these moments in words before I forget! :) This was my baby shower thrown by my mom and mother in law. It took place at my mother in law's house and it was such a hit! I had so much fun seeing friends, family and people I haven't seen in years! Everyone is so loving and so caring. I am so blessed to have so many people who love me around me. They now love baby Slade too! I got all sorts of goodies and the cutest clothes. This kid is set! Also, this shower included my favorite breakfast foods! Breakfast cake, waffles, fruit, milk, apple juice, and more. My sister in law Alisha made the cutest candy favors and water bottle labels. I feel huge in these pictures by the way haha and I still had a while to go! Overall, such a great Saturday morning with everyone!

Welcome Slade Blaine Davis :)

12:00 a.m.: This birth story is pretty funny to me. It started on June 6, 2012 when I went to bed around 12 a.m. after helping my parents with some things. I remember I was pretty energetic going to bed and I wasn't tired at all. I said my prayers and I specifically spent a longer time telling Heavenly Father how thankful I was for many things, including the health of our then unborn baby. I went to bed and I kept staying awake for some reason but I knew that it was going to be hard to wake up the next morning so I just stopped thinking about life and made myself go to sleep.

1:40 a.m.: I woke up suddenly because I felt this little gush and a wet spot on myself (sorry if TMI haha) it wasn't big or anything, the wet spot was the size of a silver dollar but it was still strange. I usually wake up to go to the bathroom like 5 times a night and so I know I am really good about waking up to go pee. I was surprised at myself if I had actually peed my pants but it was possible since I was 37 weeks pregnant and I hear that happens. I get up and I am going to use the restroom but I have this funny feeling inside and I just stand there thinking, "wait a minute....did my water just break?" I kept standing there just still and wondering what in the world was happening. I have never been pregnant before, I didn't know how much water is supposed to come out when your bag of waters break and I had no idea what it was going to feel like. Well I had been standing there for a few minutes just looking at Blaine thinking if I was going to wake him up or not. Turns out he woke himself up and asked me what was going on. I told him, "I think I peed my pants....or my water just broke" haha well Blaine has always been my voice of reason and he said to try to go pee and see what happens. I did go pee and thought well maybe I just peed a little. We did check the color, odor, and all this stuff to see if it was my water that broke but we weren't sure and we decided to get back into bed and see what happens in the next few minutes. Well I sat down on the bed and I felt this little gush of water again and I thought I did NOT just pee my pants again haha.

2:00 a.m.: Blaine called Summerlin Hospital to ask the nurses about waters breaking and they said for me to come in anyways and we'll check it out. I was walking around and by then I was definitely leaking!!! It wasn't a little bit anymore and I told Blaine "I DEFINITELY think my water just broke!" You'd think the next thing would be us freaking out but no, the first thing I thought was "I need to shave my legs!" haha I didn't want to have ugly legs at the hospital. Blaine took a shower, my hospital bag was pretty packed up but we checked off the extra stuff we needed and we were so excited that we were going to meet our little boy sooner than we thought! About 2.5 weeks earlier than expected :) It was funny because earlier on June 6, 2012, I had my weekly appointment with Dr. Groom and I was about 75% effaced and 1 cm dilated. I asked him when he thought I was going to have this baby and he said something like, "well...technically he could come tonight or in two weeks...but we wont let you go past your due date" haha so as Joni had told me that same day, it was POSSIBLE that he could come tonight but NOT PROBABLE. Lydia and Carson had both thought that he could come today! Then at work on the 6th, the last thing that my boss told me was, "Now don't go into labor tonight!" I responded, "I'll try not too!" and we just laughed. How ironic!!!!

3:00 a.m.: We are on our way to Summerlin Hospital and I was so glad that my water broke BEFORE 2:30 a.m. because that was when Blaine was supposed to wake up and go to work. So now, Blaine had to call into work and tell them I was going to have our baby. Bill was the first to know and then I think Spencer. We had to tell Spencer as a coworker because he had to fill in for Blaine since he was not going to work. We get to the hospital, they take us in and thankfully I had already preregistered! There were a lot of things that I didn't get done before the baby came but at least SOME things I did manage to do beforehand. There at the hospital they confirm I broke my water, I was still dilated 1 cm, I think I was effaced 100% and I was having contractions but not feeling them.

5:00 a.m.: We are now in our delivery room (which we LOVED) and now we decided to tell our parents! It was so funny because no one was expecting this. WE didn't expect this either. Grandparents were excited and it was a good time to wake them up haha. I was nowhere near delivering so we told them that they should try to get some sleep (although I'm sure nobody did) and we would keep them posted throughout the day about my progress.

The rest of the morning: I got pitocin to start regulating my contractions and it was nice because at first I didn't really feel them at all. It would have been nice if they stayed that way! haha As they gave me more of that medication, the stronger the contractions felt. My morning with Blaine was pretty nice and just relaxing and later on my mom came to support us. I did my makeup (because I knew there was going to be photoshoots haha and I still had on yesterdays makeup) and I was ready for this labor to keep going! The contractions eventually did start to hurt but not to the point where I would be yelling or anything. Eventually they checked me again and I finally had progressed to like 3-4 cm!! That means that I could now get an epidural. I wasn't in major screaming pain like I said but I knew they were only going to get worse so I went ahead and took the epidural then. The shot itself didn't hurt that much but emotionally I just don't like shots for some reason. When it was all said and done it wasn't even that bad! After that I felt soooooo good and just pain free. FELT NOTHING. I took this time to take a nap and my mom and Joni had lunch and Blaine took a nap too. Our friends were visiting someone else in the hospital and so it was fun that they got to visit us too!

5:00 p.m.: So they checked me again and I had progressed like NOTHING! Still at 4 cm. I was really just sad because I wanted to meet him already! Bad thing is that my epidural started wearing off and so I got these horrible cramps and thankfully they gave me more. They couldn't give me TOO MUCH more though because my right leg was totally dead and useless and they said my legs needed more circulation.

Evening: As the night came on, I started feeling horrible beyond belief because I was having back labor pain. my lower left back hurt like someone keep stabbing it and even when the contraction was over, the pain was still there. They couldn't give me more stuff for the pain so I just had to endure it. They turned me over to my left side so that the drugs they had previously given me would circulate more to my left side and perhaps make my right leg not so numb.

8:00 p.m.: They checked me one more time only after I told the nurse that I felt like he was coming! Haha such a funny feeling but yes, I felt pressure and I knew that he was so close to coming out. When they checked they finally said the magic number 10 cm and they prepped everything for pushing. Dr. Groom was there all throughout the day and he was amazing and all ready to go. Started pushing and it was not bad at all! Pushing actually got rid of the back pain and so I was so determined to keep pushing and get my little guy into our arms. Pushing only took about 15-20 minutes and it was painless....thank you epidural!!!

8:25 p.m.: Slade Blaine Davis was born at 6.6 lbs, 17.75 inches. Apgar score 8/9. Our little guy was little and perfect!!!! If he was born by my 40th week he might have been an 8lb baby and so I was REALLY grateful that he came early and he was perfectly healthy and developed. He was SO ready to come out of there and meet us. As soon as I saw his whole body I just sobbed and cried and cried tears of happiness. I actually thought earlier in the evening I would start crying because of the pain but I never did. Only tears of joy because I had given birth to our son! Blaine cut the umbilical cord and my mom and mom-in-law were there supporting me. It was such a great moment when he was finally in my arms and I couldn't believe he was all ours :)

9:00 p.m.: throughout the rest of the night we had all aunts and uncles visit their new nephew. Grandpa Jeff and Grandma's were loving on their grandson too. I got to talk to my dad on the phone who is still not back in the country and I gave him the great news about the birth of his first grandson. Totally different story but he will hopefully get to come back home later this summer as his attorneys are working so hard on his immigration case. But nevertheless, I was happy that I could talk to my dad about his new grandson and I can't wait until they get to meet someday soon.

10 p.m.: After everyone left we just loved on our little guy and fed him and tried to figure out this whole parenting thing out! The nurses kept waking us up for procedural stuff, paperwork, vitals, baby checks...etc. but finally around 1 a.m. we got to sleep :) Welcome to the world Slade!!!!
